Acrylics / Oils
The main problem about oils for me is being patient - they take a long time to dry. The good news is I can adjust and move the paint around at a later date adding layers onto wet or dry. This allows me to adjust or paint over these imperfections - a big plus for me!! "Lord of the Woods" is a good example. I did not like the shape of the antlers on the stag so I rubbed them out to repaint whilst still wet and a halo effect was created by mistake, but for me this made the composition - happy days!!
Acrylics dry much faster than oil, in fact too fast sometimes. Similar to oils, I do enjoy the effects that can be achieved especially when using iridescent paint, which can produce some amazing effects.
